The two most frequently requested interpretation methods consist of consecutive and simultaneous interpretation. However, we also offer remote interpretation services over the telephone and via videoconferencing.

Consecutive interpretation The interpreter waits until the speaker has reached the end of the sentence before interpreting what was said. This method doubles the time taken, as everything said in the source language is repeated once again in the target language.

Simultaneous interpretation This is the most commonly used approach in events such as conferences, where the interpreter renders the message in the target language as quickly as can be formulated, while the speaker continuously speaks. The interpreter is located in a sound-proof booth, speaking into a microphone, while clearly hearing the speaker through earphones. The simultaneous interpretation is also rendered to the listeners via earphones.

Because of the intense concentration needed by interpreters to hear every word spoken and provide an accurate rendition in the target language, professional interpreters work in pairs or in teams of three, so that after interpreting for twenty minutes, the interpreters switch.

After Booking an Interpreter

Once a interpreter has been booked, you will be asked to provide us with all reference material available to assist the interpreter in his/her preparation for the assignment. We adhere to strict rules of confidentiality so you can rest assured that the content of the materials provided to us will not be disclosed to any third parties.

The interpreter will arrive at the location at least fifteen minutes prior to the meeting or event. However, you will not be charged for this additional time. We simply prefer to allow a few extra minutes for the interpreter to introduce himself/herself and address any possible questions or concerns the parties involved may have.

We understand that at times, due to unforeseen circumstances clients are forced to cancel their bookings. In this case, we request that you do so at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment to avoid incurring in any cancellation fees. We would be happy to reschedule the interpreter for another date.
